Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned instruction that develops students’ critical thinking, problem‑solving, and creativity. Establish a classroom environment where all students feel valued, challenged, and supported. Integrate real‑world applications and interdisciplinary connections to support authentic learning and transfer. Use culturally responsive instructional strategies that honor students’ identities, experiences, and perspectives. Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Communicate effectively with families and caregivers as partners in student learning. Engage in continuous professional learning aligned to district priorities and instructional best practices. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to improve instruction and student outcomes. Maintain accurate records related to instruction, assessment, and student progress. Uphold district policies, professional ethics, and Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements. Contribute positively to the school community and district culture. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Possession of a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification appropriate to assignment or the ability to obtain necessary emergency certification based on the district’s needs. Demonstrated commitment to equity‑centered teaching and continuous improvement. Strong instructional planning, classroom management, and communication skills. Reporting Relationships Teachers in WCASD report to school building administrators. Teachers in WCASD receive professional development and support from a variety of stakeholders, including curriculum supervisors, pupil services supervisors, and grade level and content level leaders. Regardless of years of experience, teachers who are new to WCASD participate in teacher induction focused on how teacher looks specifically within the district. Terms of Employment This position is a 10‑month position. This position is represented by West Chester Area Education Association. Starting salaries are determined based on relevant experience, education, and internal equity, and are generally set below the midpoint of the salary range.
