Job Title Valet Shift Lead – SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital Job Details Pay: $13–$15 per hour plus $3–$7 per hour in tips. Health benefits are offered to all employees. Multiple shift options are available, including weekdays and weekends. Summary The Guest Service Captain orchestrates the service experience for hotel guests, coordinating tasks and ensuring that service standards are met or exceeded. Under the direction of the Account Manager, the candidate provides coordination, administration, and troubleshooting, and may make judgment calls during critical situations. Responsibilities Maintains a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with all guests, client staff members, and coworkers. Acknowledges and greets guests within 30 seconds of arrival to create favorable first and last impressions. Effectively participates in “The Show” and delivers “Aggressive Hospitality” to guests. Opens all vehicle and hotel doors for guests, checks in arriving guests, and explains parking and retrieval procedures. Parks and retrieves vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously, maintaining accuracy and composure under pressure. Uses proper phone etiquette and posts up in appropriate areas when not assisting guests or completing other tasks. Conducts effective room presentations when providing bell services, assists with delivery and pick‑up of items to guest rooms, and provides directions, taxis, reservations, and other inquiries. Maintains detailed knowledge of the client’s facility, including outlets, meeting rooms, amenities, main attractions, parking rates, and other pertinent information. Promotes a teamwork philosophy through leading by example and effective communication skills; assigns coworkers to routine or non‑ordinary roles as directed. Issues claim checks to guests only after receiving vehicle keys; collects vehicle claim checks from all guests prior to issuing keys. Completes ticket information, including key tag, guest folio, and vehicle location, as well as damage surveys and claim check receipt for all vehicles. Secures all keys on a belt clip or in a locked key box. Ensures staff do not provide “lift” services to any hotel or hospital guest; checks wheelchairs for safe operation before each use and cleans wheelchairs afterward. Protects guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements and maintains the security of customer financial and identifying information. Assists the Account Manager as needed to build work schedules and make calls on behalf of the manager to notify associates of schedule changes or openings. Identifies and collects revenue for all vehicles; completes accurate cash drop slips and envelopes. Completes the shift report and other shift paperwork with detail and accuracy; reconciles revenue and tickets at the end of every shift. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED. Licensure/Certification: Must be at least 18 years old; must pass a criminal background, MVR, and drug screen. Must complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course provided by Towne Park. Work Experience: Six (6) months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to drive a manual transmission; functional English language skills (speaking, reading, writing). Basic numeracy for handling money and time calculations. Skills: Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings; apply reasoning to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions; perform basic mathematical calculations with U.S. currency; read time on a 24‑hour clock; understand rates applicable to time passed; handle wheelchairs and vehicles safely.
