Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

Job Opportunity

The County of Solano is currently seeking candidates for open positions in the Department of Health & Social Services, Family Health Services. These positions include two full-time and one part-time roles.

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions at an expanded level of responsibility by utilizing services of the nurse practitioner or the physician assistant within the framework of mutually established medical protocols and guidelines. Under the general direction of a physician, Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants assess and diagnosis medical needs of ambulatory and medical clinic patients, develop and implement treatment and intervention plans and evaluate patient's progress. They also conduct education/referral; case management; health promotion; disease prevention; community outreach; and medication administration.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

Position requirements include:

• Clinic, hospital or public health experience is desired.
• Nurse Practitioner:
• Current California Registered Nurse License
• Current California Nurse Practitioner Certification
• Current Nurse Practitioner National Certification
• Physician Assistant:
• Current California Physician Assistant License

Special requirements include:

• Current Adult, Child, and Infant CPR Certificate
• Current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration
• Based on assignment, a valid California Driver's License, Class C

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County. Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security. Vacation and sick leave accrue at approximately 10 and 12 days per year, respectively. The County observes 12 full day fixed and 2 half day fixed paid holidays per year. Additionally, employees in this bargaining unit receive 2 floating paid holidays per year. Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.
