Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant - Contract

A large, structured corporate accounting environment is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day general ledger accounting operations. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the books across a complex, multi-entity organization. The right candidate brings solid GL fundamentals, strong reconciliation skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced close environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and post journal entries across assigned accounts and entities
• Perform monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review financial data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as they arise
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies

Reconciliations & Analysis:

• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany activity
• Research and resolve reconciling items and unexplained variances
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for assigned accounts
• Assist with fixed asset and other subledger reconciliations as needed

Reporting & Audit Support:

• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed
• Identify and contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
• Support ad hoc accounting projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2-4 years of general ledger accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working in a large ERP environment
• Able to work independently and manage competing priorities against close deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience with Workday Financials
• Multi-entity accounting environment experience
• Exposure to fixed asset accounting
• SOX compliance experience
