This role partners closely with Product Management, Design, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to ensure technology execution aligns with business banking strategy, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.Engineering Managers on the Business Banking team balance big‑picture system design with attention to detail. We solve real customer and operational problems—not just stated requirements—while maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, and performance. We continuously learn, mentor others, and push for technical excellence, while knowing when to draw the line and ship value to market.Key Responsibilities & DeliverablesBusiness Banking product technology strategy and visionPrioritized technology roadmap and engineering initiativesEngineering delivery, quality, and operational KPIsLead and coach a team of 10-12 software engineersProduct Strategy, Vision, and PlanningPartner with the Product Manager to shape and execute the Business Banking product vision and roadmap from a technology perspective, aligned with broader enterprise and platform strategyActively participate in PI planning and other agile planning ceremonies, providing technical leadership for backlog refinement, quarterly planning, retrospectives, and business reviewsAdvise Product Management on technology opportunities, architectural improvements, emerging technologies, and product gaps to inform roadmap decisionsRecommend and champion technology investments that support business banking objectives, scalability, security, and regulatory complianceSupport product teams in translating complex business banking needs into well‑defined features, technical designs, and user storiesDesign and DevelopmentOversee the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of Business Banking software solutions across the full product lifecycleEstablish, uphold, and evolve engineering standards, best practices, and policies to ensure consistency, reliability, security, and performanceCollaborate with Architects and peer Engineering Managers to identify and manage cross‑system dependencies, risks, and architectural alignmentParticipate in and support agile development events, including design reviews, sprint reviews, and product demonstrationsBuild and sustain high‑performing engineering teams by setting clear missions, coaching career growth, and supporting personal developmentFoster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation while providing actionable feedback through code reviews and technical discussionsPerformance Measurement and OptimizationDefine, analyze, and monitor delivery, quality, and operational metrics at the product levelUse data‑driven insights to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities, and drive execution of technical and operational strategiesQualifications & ExperienceA Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar field7+ years of experience in technology roles, with progressive responsibility in engineering leadership and people managementStrong understanding of multi‑tenant, cloud‑based, high‑transaction‑volume systems, ideally within financial services or bankingExperience with full‑stack software development in an enterprise environment (e.g., Java, HTML5, JavaScript, Angular/React or similar frameworks)Hands‑on experience with Agile and Agile‑at‑scale frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Lean), including CI/CD and test automation practicesTechnical expertise in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python), cloud technologies, and product management tools (e.g., Jira)Proven ability to think strategically and articulate a clear technical vision and roadmap in partnership with Product ManagementStrong leadership and people‑management skills, with experience leading engineers across multiple teamsExcellent collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective problem identification, solution design, and decision‑makingExperience working with Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Solution Train Engineers (STEs), and system stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of strategic themesAbility to remain close enough to teams to add value and technical insight, while empowering engineers to independently solve problemsServe as an Agile coach and trusted advisor to engineering teamsStatement to Third Party AgenciesTo ALL recruitment agencies: Candescent only accepts resumes from agencies on the preferred supplier list.
