Research Accounting Technician Job Summary: The Research Accounting Technician supports post‑award financial management for the College of Sciences, ensuring compliance with university, federal, and agency guidelines. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Research Administration, this role works closely with faculty to manage sponsored research transactions and grant‑related accounting. The College of Sciences (COS) is a research‑intensive environment that values excellence in teaching and community engagement. The Research Office provides pre‑ and post‑award services, including proposal development, portfolio management, effort reporting, and research administration support. Key Responsibilities Initiate and reconcile financial transactions, including no‑cost extensions, re‑budgets, and salary adjustments. Provide grant management support, including budget justifications and compliance navigation. Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to funding regulations. Collaborate with faculty to facilitate efficient research administration. Additional Responsibilities Serve as backup for other grant specialists. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and one year of accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous financial management experience and the ability to effectively manage budget and related financial matters. Knowledge of University spending guidelines and research administration (pre‑and post‑award). Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
