Job Description

Join a large metal finishing facility as part of the shipping, receiving, and production support team, ensuring that customer orders are processed accurately, on time, and with a strong focus on quality and service.

1st shift: 6am to 2:30pm

Pay: $18/hr

Responsibilities

• Support the production schedule so that customer orders meet their required due dates.

• Assist in the processing of production orders by coordinating incoming materials and communicating order status.

• Perform quality assurance activities throughout all stages of production to help ensure parts meet specifications.

• Receive and inspect customer products for processing, including greeting customers at the service counter in a professional manner.

• Receive shipments from carriers such as UPS and FedEx and verify that deliveries match purchase orders, including part numbers and quantities.

• Conduct visual inspections of incoming parts for damage, previous processing, and other quality concerns.

• Verify part quantities and ensure all items are accurately recorded and staged on receiving shelves.

• Maintain accurate part identification and traceability through proper labeling, documentation, and data entry.

• Complete all required paperwork thoroughly and maintain records in accordance with internal procedures.

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficient work-flow in the receiving area and related workspaces.

• Coordinate with the production team to understand where customer orders stand in the process and help push orders through as needed.

• Communicate order status clearly and professionally to customers via phone, email, and in-person interactions.

• Work closely with the top customer accounts to provide timely updates, address questions, and support strong customer relationships.

• Learn and use basic Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel tools to support communication, reporting, and planning activities.

• Support planning activities on the production line, including typing and data entry for schedules and order tracking.

• Handle materials safely, including lifting up to 50 pounds as needed for shipping, receiving, and staging.

• Seek opportunities to learn new skills and cross-train in various departments across the facility.

Essential Skills

• Experience or strong interest in shipping and receiving, including handling incoming and outgoing materials.

• Ability to perform packaging, material handling, and inventory control tasks accurately and efficiently.

• Basic data entry skills with attention to detail for recording shipments, inventory, and production information.

• Ability to conduct visual inspection of parts for damage, previous processing, and other quality issues.

• Strong, professional communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams in person, by phone, and via email.

• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish for the production support role to effectively communicate with a diverse customer base.

• Ability to learn and use basic Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel to support daily tasks and communication.

• Good customer service skills, including responsiveness, patience, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds safely as part of shipping, receiving, and material handling duties.

• Valid driver’s license for job-related tasks that may require driving.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, inventory, or warehouse environment is beneficial.

• Familiarity with inventory control processes and maintaining part identification and traceability is a plus.

• Comfort with typing and computer use to support scheduling, planning, and documentation.

• Experience working in a production, manufacturing, or metal finishing environment is an advantage.

• Willingness to cross-train in multiple departments and learn new processes over time.

• Ability to work overtime after training when business needs require it.

• Strong organizational skills to maintain clean, orderly, and efficient work areas.

Work Environment

You work on first shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in a large metal finishing operation made up of six buildings, each dedicated to different stages of the metal finishing process. The environment is production-focused, with active shipping, receiving, and inspection areas, and you regularly move between workstations and departments as needed. You handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and staging materials, while also working at a computer for data entry, email, and basic use of Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and organization, particularly in the receiving area, and you collaborate closely with production staff and office personnel throughout the day.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.90 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
