Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least (1) Full-Time Permanent, Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety) (SPT) position. This vacancy exists in the Central Staffing office.

This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize competing assignments, and sound nursing judgement to resolve staffing issues in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of hospital staffing policies, basic computer proficiency, effective communication, and teamwork are essential. The Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety) coordinates staffing for each program, collaborates with other hospital departments to address staffing needs, and delegates assignments while providing oversight to staff on duty. Responsibilities include entering and maintaining staffing data in the clinical and administrative management system, ASSIST; training users; troubleshooting system issues; and verifying overtime worked.

The position is currently assigned to a 12-hour NOC shift, with work hours of 1815-0700 and 2230-0630 on eight-hour pivot days. Work hours are subject to change based on hospital staffing needs.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
