Nurse Practitioner

Maimonides Health, Brooklyn's largest healthcare system, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Infusion Hematology/Oncology. The position is full time, working Monday to Friday, 8AM to 6PM, with 4-10 hour shifts.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care in accordance with written policies approved by nursing/medical administration. Responsible for patient care as outlined within the Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

• Providing age-appropriate care and intervention for patients served according to job description.
• Developing and implementing a collaborative practice agreement in the specific clinical area.
• Assessing the health status of clients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examinations.
• Initiating therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations.
• Providing teaching and counseling in areas of health promotion and maintenance and in disease prevention.
• Consulting with physician as established in the collaborative practice agreement.
• Initiating referrals to specialty services and fostering continuity of care.
• Demonstrating accountability for nursing practice.
• Advocating for patients and supporting patient rights.
• Participating in peer review and approved medical and nursing research studies.
• Participating in departmental and interdisciplinary committees which influence and/or determine policies affecting nursing practice.
• Performing duties and responsibilities in accordance with agreement between Nurse Practitioner and collaborating physician.
• Maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Other job duties include keeping knowledge current by self-directed learning and attendance at educational programs, and performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Requirements include:

• Completion of an accredited Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current NY State NP license and registration.
• Valid DEA number.
• ANCC/AANP Certification.
• Experience in complex patient management as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills focused on patient centered care.
• Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy / Biotherapy Certification.
• 1-2 years of Outpatient Clinical Oncology/Chemotherapy Patient Management experience.
• Proficient in ordering Chemotherapeutic & Immunotherapeutic regimen.
• Demonstrate expertise in infusion protocols.
• Proficient with EMR/Office/Microsoft Outlook applications.
• Skilled in managing complex oncology patient cases.
• Skills in providing comprehensive education and support to Oncology patients/families.
• Certification as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP).

Pay Range: USD $151,740.55 /Yr.
