Physician Assistant Fellow

The Physician Assistant Fellow is joining DFCI in a one-year Physician Assistant post‑graduate training program. The Fellow has completed PA school and is a certified Physician Assistant, using clinical and academic skills in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with cancer or hematologic disorders. The program offers dedicated mentorship in oncology through didactic and clinical training outlined by the PA Fellowship Director. Responsibilities In collaboration with a physician and mentors, the Fellow manages therapeutic regimens for acute and chronic problems associated with the disease, its treatment, and/or conditions. The Fellow provides anticipatory guidance, patient and family education, and psychological and emotional support. The Fellow has prescriptive authority, including schedule II through V controlled substances in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Fellow takes advantage of formal and informal learning opportunities to strengthen their knowledge base in support of the Institute’s mission, vision, and core values. Minimum Job Qualifications Minimum Education: Master’s Degree and successful completion of an AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies program are required. Minimum Experience: No professional experience required. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must be NCCPA Certified and licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts, maintain current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses, and complete 100 hours of CME according to national and state regulations during each two‑year period of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Member of an interdisciplinary care team requiring effective communication and collaboration with co‑workers at the Institute and collaborating institutions and agencies. Critical thinking, understanding of research principles and practices, and leadership that improves the quality of care and advances nursing/medical care within the work setting and throughout the community.
