Journeyman Level Plumber

The County of Volusia is hiring a Journeyman Level Plumber to work at Tiger Bay Road, Daytona Beach, Florida. The role involves plumbing installations, maintenance, and repairs across various county buildings, including court facilities. The plumber will perform routine preventative maintenance, read blueprints, manage records, assist with inventory, and coordinate special projects. The position requires minimal supervision and experience in commercial plumbing is preferred but not required.

High school diploma or GED or possession of GED and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience at the level of a plumbing journeyman. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire. Must obtain a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years journeyman level plumbing experience, preferably in service plumbing.

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals. Ability to respond to emergency situations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Ability to interact effectively with others. Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs. Proficient in understanding and applying work orders, safety instructions, maps, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and other technical documentation. Basic computer skills. Capable of performing medium to heavy work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity (color acuity and depth perception) is necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to inclement weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, and rain. Ability to work in hazardous conditions, including exposure to chemicals, dust, confined spaces, and areas with poor ventilation. Strong awareness of safety protocols and practices to minimize risks in challenging work environments.
