Staff Accountant

Title: Staff Accountant Location: Deer Park, TX Duration: Direct Hire Compensation: $70,000 Work Requirements: US Citizen, Green Card Holder, or Authorized to Work in the United States Position Summary Seeking a Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced industrial environment. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position will assist with general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, cash management, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to grow within a collaborative accounting team while supporting continuous process improvements. Key Responsibilities Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities. Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records. Prepare detailed balance sheet and bank account reconciliations. Support cash management activities, including posting cash receipts, reconciling cash accounts, and monitoring outstanding checks. Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Monitor capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset records. Support Accounts Payable by assisting with invoice processing and vendor inquiries as needed. Maintain and track company credit card activity and reconciliations. Assist with annual audits, insurance renewals, and other compliance-related reporting. Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with documenting and implementing new accounting procedures. Cross-train within the accounting department to provide backup support for other accounting functions. Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 2-4 years of general ledger accounting experience. Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Manufacturing, industrial, construction, or distribution accounting experience preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. ERP experience required; Epicor experience is a plus. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting fixed assets and capital project accounting. Experience with cash management and financial reporting. Experience working in a small to mid-sized company environment. Experience identifying and implementing accounting process improvements.
