Project Executive GCS

The General Contracting Services Project Executive is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and developing a project management team consisting of Project Managers and Project Engineers, and overseeing an annual portfolio exceeding $50 million. The Project Executive provides strategic direction to all project teams and is ultimately responsible for overall project performance through strong financials, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. Executive Leadership, Portfolio Oversight & Governance

• Portfolio Accountability: Maintains full accountability for portfolio outcomes, ensuring profitability, schedule adherence, quality, safety, and client satisfaction; enforces strict adherence to company standards, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Leadership Interface: Serves as the primary liaison between the project management team and executive leadership; communicates portfolio performance, operational risks, and strategic opportunities.
• Corporate Culture & Values: Upholds and models company values in all decisions, communications, and relationships; leads, supports, and promotes an organizational culture in line with M&H values.
• Strategic Decision-Making: Utilizes all available resources and sound judgment to make high-level decisions that support both immediate project needs and the company's long-term corporate success.

Business Development & Preconstruction Strategy

• Work Acquisition & Estimating: Partners with preconstruction and estimating teams in the pursuit, budgeting, and acquisition of new work; understands the preconstruction process from conceptual phase through GMP development and oversees the development of estimates.
• Account Expansion: Cultivates and strengthens external client relationships to secure repeat business, represents the company in key partner discussions, and maximizes revenue by identifying cross-sell, upsell, and scope expansion opportunities.
• Marketing Collaboration: Collaborates with the marketing team on related presentations, pitches, and industry/community networking activities.

Financial Management & Forecasting

• Executive Forecasting: Deliver accurate monthly revenue, margin, and profit forecasts to the Exec. VP General Contracting Services; reviews and approves project budgets, monitors cash flow, and ensures the financial health of assigned projects.
• Financial Accountability: Ensures absolute accountability for project-level reporting, cost tracking, and financial performance; oversees invoicing, payment collections, and the resolution of complex financial disputes.
• Change Management & Negotiation: Disseminates change requests, evaluates subcontractor pricing accuracy, and obtains owner/architect approvals; negotiates complex project issues including change orders, contingency expenditures, and fee enhancements.

Procurement, Subcontractor & Contract Management

• Contract Negotiation: Reviews prime contracts and master agreements; negotiates terms with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to safeguard the organization.
• Buyout & Award Management: Leads the planning and implementation of the buyout schedule; develops bid packages, advertisements, and bid lists; completes comprehensive scope reviews, bid analyses, and gap analyses to execute final subcontract agreements.
• Risk Management & Bonding: Identifies, understands, and actively manages project risks; confers with risk management to ensure subcontractor approval and/or bonding requirements, and provides ongoing risk analysis throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Execution, Scheduling & Logistical Control

• Master Scheduling: Prepares, develops, and updates the project schedule for both preconstruction and construction activities in collaboration with the Project Superintendent; integrates Lean principles and facilitates proactive mitigation plans for scope, weather, and manpower impacts.
• Material & Resource Logistics: Coordinates with Logistics to obtain pricing on materials and equipment; manages deliverables provided by internal resources (e.g., IPS, logistics, self-perform) to ensure resource availability.
• Submittal Management: Oversees the submittal schedule setup, prestart checklists, and coordination priorities; reviews and approves all shop drawings and samples prior to architect/engineer submittal.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinates and aligns various project stakeholders, including subcontractors, owners, field staff, design teams, and vendors.

Safety, Compliance & Closeout

• Safety Culture Leadership: Leads all aspects of the project-specific safety plan; creates a culture of safety awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through mentoring, investigating safety incidents, and retraining staff as needed.
• Project Documentation: Provides appropriate written documentation for decisions affecting budget, schedule, legal, quality, and/or safety; interfaces with regional/company legal counsel as appropriate.
• Project Closeout: Leads the overall project closeout process using best practice standards, tools, and processes, including the close-out punch list, final financials, subcontracts, warranties, and final closeout reporting.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

• Team Management: Leads, manages, and develops a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and professional development.
• Workload Optimization: Delegates and balances project workloads across the team to maximize operational efficiency, performance, and resource utilization.
• Field Operations Collaboration: Coordinates and communicates effectively with Field Operations to ensure project teams are supported with the necessary resources, information, and field leadership.

Client Engagement & Account Management

• Client Satisfaction: Ensure that throughout the course of the project and beyond, customer and account relations are fostered and strengthened through strategic milestones and events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and in accordance with Musselman and Hall policies and values

• In-depth knowledge (or ability to obtain in-depth knowledge) of business operations, including market-specific nuances

Experience & Education

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Manager (similar role) in commercial construction
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business (Strongly Preferred)
• 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree. xhyhwjd
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience supervising or managing others (Strongly Preferred)

Physical Demands

• The physical demands listed must be able to be met by the incumbent in this role to successfully perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to safely navigate the shop, yard, and/or an active job site around heavy equipment in varying weather conditions
• Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Other Requirements

• Full-time hours required; most work will be performed on weekdays during regular business hours
• The ability to provide transportation to and from various customer locations is required.
• Some travel to M&H office locations and/or other local/regional travel may be required (may vary based on Business Unit)
