Senior Associate Scientist - Engineered Cell Therapy Discovery
$102.57k - $124.29kBristol-Myers Squibb
Working at Bristol Myers Squibb offers a unique opportunity to develop next‑generation engineered cell therapies that transform patient outcomes. The Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center focuses on harnessing the immune system to treat hematologic malignancies, solid cancers, and autoimmune disease. Join our Engineered Cell Therapy Discovery team as a Senior Associate Scientist. Position Summary We are seeking an innovative and driven Senior Associate Scientist to advance CART and eTCR therapies for patients with cancer and other chronic diseases. The role involves designing functional assays, screening engineered T cell constructs, and interpreting large biological datasets to shape discovery decisions. Position Responsibilities Apply immunological knowledge to design, execute, and interpret studies evaluating engineered T cell CAR/eTCR constructs, novel payloads/gene editing across diverse biological conditions. Contribute to screening strategies that assess engineered T cell constructs and functional responses leveraging automation where applicable, enabling data‑driven prioritization. Perform detailed mechanistic studies using multiparametric immune profiling, assessing activation, exhaustion, memory, and effector phenotypes. Analyze complex datasets from cellular, molecular, and functional assays to identify biological trends, support hypothesis generation, and guide experimental follow‑up. Develop and optimize novel assays to quantitatively assess biological properties of engineered T cells and ensure robustness and reproducibility. Generate and cryopreserve CART and eTCR T cells using complex genetic engineering approaches; perform phenotypic and functional analyses by flow cytometry, IncuCyte, MSD, and other methods. Participate in troubleshooting activities related to new approaches/technologies. Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Maintain electronic notebooks rigorously to support project milestones and patent/regulatory filings. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of academic and/or industry experience. Master’s degree with 2+ years of academic and/or industry experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong knowledge of biology, immunology, bioengineering, or related disciplines. Experience developing and using quantitative in‑vitro assays for drug development. Experience with automation platforms for high‑throughput screening. Proficiency in data analysis using JMP, R, or similar. Familiarity with screening, multiparametric flow cytometry, or high‑content assay best practices. Proficiency in MSD, IncuCyte‑based assays, multi‑parameter flow cytometry, or high‑content imaging technologies. Experience generating, expanding, characterizing, and cryopreserving CART and eTCR T cells. Knowledge of antibody discovery and molecular biology. Excellent organizational skills and rigorous documentation. Strong communication skills and ability to work productively as both team member and individual contributor. Compensation Seattle – WA: $102,570 – $124,290 per year. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available. Final individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
