Location: Brightwater Central Office - Bend, Oregon (This is an on-site position. Remote and hybrid work are not available.)

Brightwater is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team. As Brightwater continues to expand across the United States and Canada, we are looking for a payroll professional who is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Working alongside and reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in processing payroll for more than 1,500 employees across multiple states and provinces while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to our communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for more than 1,500 employees across multiple locations.
• Review payroll data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before processing.
• Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, garnishments, direct deposits, and status changes.
• Audit timesheets, payroll reports, and employee records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality of employee information.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including tax reporting and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
• Work collaboratively with Human Resources, Finance, and community leadership to resolve payroll issues.
• Support payroll process improvements, system testing, and special projects.
• Assist with payroll audits and internal compliance initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
• Experience processing high-volume payroll is required.
• Canadian payroll experience is considered a strong asset.
• Experience with UKG Ready or similar systems preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, wage and hour requirements, and payroll best practices.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
