Position Overview Position titles: Professor of Data Science (open rank – Assistant, Associate, Full Professor). Salary range: a reasonable salary estimate for this open-rank position is $146,000-$265,000. The UC Academic salary scale sets the minimum pay as determined by rank and/or step at appointment. The base salary range for this position is $107,100–$232,100, based on the current salary scale: Off-salary salaries and other components of pay are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience. Position Description The University of California, San Diego invites applications for one or more ladder rank faculty appointments based in the Halcolu Data Science Institute (datascience.ucsd.edu/), the academic unit of the newly formed School of Computing, Information and Data Sciences. This is an open rank search (Assistant, Associate or full Professor) for outstanding researchers to fill our need in the field of Artificial Intelligence Systems and Security. We seek applicants with extraordinary research records and innovation in Artificial Intelligence Systems and Security (broadly understood) for all levels - including persons, devices, and systems - and all aspects of data science - including collection, analysis, management, and reuse. We especially encourage applications from candidates with a track record of building tools and/or artifacts, and also demonstrated impact on major data science application domains (e.g., healthcare, medical devices, social networks) or societal infrastructures (e.g., transportation, smart grids, smart cities, cloud computing). All candidates are expected to establish a rigorous program of high-quality, federally-funded research. This position involves teaching university students. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in support of the Data Science major/minor degree and other programs offered by the Institute.
