AML/BSA Specialist

Join a reputable organization as an AML/BSA Specialist responsible for identifying and investigating potentially suspicious financial activities. This role involves analyzing customer transactions, preparing confidential compliance reports, and collaborating with internal teams and authorities to ensure adherence to anti-money laundering regulations. The position offers onsite training in Tempe, Arizona, with potential hybrid work arrangements after training. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed analysis of customer account transactions to detect suspicious activities indicative of money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes. Investigate multiple types of fraud and suspicious behaviors in accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintain comprehensive and accurate case notes within a case management system, documenting all actions chronologically. Conduct interviews with witnesses, victims, and subjects as appropriate, documenting findings accordingly. Prepare and file complete, accurate Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) based on investigation outcomes. Collaborate with internal teams and external authorities to gather necessary information and escalated issues when appropriate. Identify cases suitable for escalation to management or law enforcement. Ensure all cases are fully resolved prior to case closure, maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance. Participate in ongoing training on compliance standards, including the Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering procedures, information security, and suspicious activity reporting protocols. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 2-3 years of experience in a risk management or related environment Strong analytical skills with proficiency in MS-Excel and MS-Word Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle multiple complex cases simultaneously and manage time effectively High level of confidentiality and data security awareness Demonstrated initiative and results-oriented attitude Ability to adapt to changing work environments and priorities Preferred Qualifications Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or similar professional fraud certification Experience in investigative roles, including law enforcement, financial/banking, accounting, or digital forensics SAR writing and quality assurance experience Proven ability to interview suspects and victims effectively Prior experience with fraud typologies such as external fraud, elder exploitation, or organized fraud rings Knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations and procedures Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Why This Opportunity May Be Appealing This role provides a meaningful opportunity to contribute to an organization's compliance and fraud prevention efforts, with a supportive environment that emphasizes ongoing education and professional growth.
