ABOUT ARCUS DEVELOPMENT

Arcus Development ( is a boutique New York real estate investment and

development firm. We operate as the Designer for the projects we build, pairing thoughtful, contextual

architecture with hands-on oversight through every phase of development and construction. As a

close-knit team, our focus is simple: designing and delivering high-quality, beautifully crafted buildings

while generating exceptional, risk-adjusted returns for our investment partners.

DESCRIPTION

This is a key position within a close-knit, highly collaborative team working on the company’s flagship

development initiatives. You will focus primarily on our new ground-up, large-scale luxury

condominium development in Lower Manhattan, with exposure to our broader project pipeline.

As the Designer, Arcus is responsible for establishing the initial design concept, exterior detailing, and

assisting the architect of record and other design professionals throughout the building process. In this

role, you will bridge design development, technical drafting, and project coordination. You will work

closely with the Senior Project Designer on design execution and documentation while also assisting

the Development Project Manager in coordinating with all design professionals and specialty

consultants to advance drawing packages through all stages of development, review scope packages

for subcontractors to ensure all design elements are being properly captured, and assist in field

reviews to ensure construction is progressing as designed to the company’s standards.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design Development & Technical Documentation (Working with the Senior Project Designer):

o Produce and coordinate drawing packages, including SD/DD Building Package; including

floor plans, exterior detailing, interior elevations, and custom millwork/architectural

details under the guidance of the Senior Project Designer.

o Assist in translating high-level architectural concepts into buildable, refined technical

details.

o Produce internal 3D models and renderings to support design development and internal

team reviews.

o Help review and quality-check the Executive Architect / AOR’s architectural CD sets to

ensure strict alignment with the design intent.

o Assist the company’s Principal and Design team in massing and preparing schematic

plans for potential new acquisitions.

• Project Coordination & Management (Assisting the Development Project Manager):

o Assist the Development Project Manager with tracking project schedules, milestone

deliverables, and critical paths.o Coordinate with multi-disciplinary consultants (MEP, Structural, Lighting, Envelope, etc.)

to ensure information is properly integrated into the design packages.

o Assist in the Construction Administration (CA) workflow by reviewing, tracking, and

coordinating submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and general contractor correspondence.

o Maintain organized consultant logs, drawing archives, and project documentation.

o Observe and report on design implementation inadequacies throughout the duration of

the project, as well as participate in project meetings and assist with documenting

action items, responsibilities, and deadlines.

o Review contractor and consultant correspondence and help identify items requiring

follow-up or escalation. Help identify coordination issues, potential design conflicts, and

construction issues before they impact schedule or cost.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience within

an architecture or design firm. Experience with multi-family residential or ground-up

construction is strongly preferred. Any experience working directly for a developer is a plus.

• Core Competencies:

o Adept at reading, assembling, and coordinating complex construction drawing sets and

architectural details.

o Strong familiarity with construction administration workflows (RFIs, Submittals,

Consultant/Contractor coordination).

o Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

o Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple

project streams in a fast-paced environment.

• Technical Skills (Required):

o Advanced drafting and modeling proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

o Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).

o Strong working command of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook,

Teams/Project) and Revu Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat

• Technical Skills (Preferred / A Plus):

o 3D visualization and rendering experience in Rhino, Enscape, and/or D5 Render.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture required.
