Low Voltage Technician

Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing A/V and security infrastructure in a low voltage environment. The ideal candidate will be able to meet the physical demands of the worksite as well as provide excellent customer service. Essential Job Functions Installs A/V and security equipment per the plans provided for the specific application. Maintains a professional attitude with emphasis on safety and customer service. Hangs, mounts, racks, installs, and rigs equipment per plans and specifications. Reads and interprets manuals, construction drawings, wiring diagrams, floor plans, and specifications. Properly sets up a variety of testers (fiber and copper). Performs system testing and troubleshooting as required. Terminates, labels, tests, and troubleshoots optical fiber and copper installations. Mounts face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Builds closets (mounts and installs backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Meets deadlines and manages materials and tools. Completes daily timesheets and job documentation. Other duties assigned by management. Requirements Able to lift heavy objects and work on construction sites. Proficient with hand tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves. Punctual and dependable. Effective communication skills. Ability to distinguish color codes. Preferred: 1+ years construction, cabling, A/V, or physical security experience. Exhibits a positive attitude. Solid team player. High attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines. Comfortable working on construction sites and in office settings. Education, Certification, License High School Diploma / GED equivalency. Work Environment Varied environments, including construction and occasional office. Physical Demands Sit, stand, and walk. Manipulate, handle, reach, use, and control items or equipment. Able to read, write, and interpret documents, plans and drawings. Communicate effectively with clients and coworkers. Lift heavy equipment more than 20 pounds. Climb ladders. Differentiation of color codes. Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite is necessary; a truck/van is not required.
