Nursing Technician

Role Details

• Nursing Student Technician - Family Medicine Center — Part Time, 20-Hour Week, Flexible Schedule

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities such as direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and administrative/clerical support. In a medical office setting: rooms patients, takes and records vital signs and collects specimens.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required
• Must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor’s degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.
• Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions and perform basic mathematical functions

Nursing Student Tech (NST) Conditions of Eligibility

• An employee may remain in the NST job post-graduation and pre-licensure up to six (6) months after which their eligibility to stay employed as an NST will cease.

Experience and Training Required

• Must complete Summa’s orientation
• Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter

Level of Physical Demands

• Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
• Exposure to blood and body fluids and sharps; risks of falls, strains, contagious diseases, etc.
