In addition to medication responsibilities, the CMA provides direct resident care and assists with activities of daily living to promote resident comfort, dignity, independence, and overall well-being.This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to medication safety. The CMA works collaboratively with licensed nursing staff and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure each resident receives individualized, high-quality care.Key ResponsibilitiesMedication Administration & SafetyAdminister medications within the CMA's authorized scope of practice and under appropriate licensed nursing supervisionFollow provider orders, medication administration records (MARs), and established facility proceduresFollow established medication administration procedures and appropriate medication-safety practicesAccurately document medications administered according to facility requirementsReport medication concerns, refusals, omissions, errors, or other medication-related issues immediately to the supervising licensed nurseObserve residents for potential changes or concerns following medication administration and report findings to licensed nursing staffMaintain appropriate security and handling of medications in accordance with facility proceduresFollow established procedures related to medication storage, documentation, and accountabilityCommunicate medication-related questions or concerns to the supervising licensed nurseResident Care & Activities of Daily LivingAssist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, personal hygiene, and feedingAssist with resident mobility, transfers, ambulation, positioning, and repositioning according to individualized care plansProvide toileting and incontinence care while maintaining resident dignity and privacyAssist residents during meals and provide feeding assistance as neededRespond promptly and professionally to resident call lights and requests for assistanceEncourage residents to maintain the highest practical level of independenceProvide care in accordance with individualized resident preferences and established plans of careHelp maintain resident comfort, cleanliness, and safety throughout the shiftObservation & CommunicationObtain and document vital signs and other assigned measurements as appropriateObserve residents for changes in physical condition, behavior, cognition, mood, appetite, mobility, or overall well-beingPromptly report changes in resident condition to the supervising licensed nurseCommunicate clearly with nursing staff regarding resident needs and concernsParticipate in shift communication and resident-care updates as appropriateCommunicate professionally and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and interdisciplinary team membersDocumentation & Care CoordinationComplete medication and resident-care documentation accurately and within established timeframesFollow individualized resident care plans and nursing instructionsMaintain accurate documentation of care and services providedCommunicate incomplete care, resident refusals, or identified concerns to the supervising nurseCollaborate with RNs, LPNs, CNAs, therapy, dietary, activities, and other team members to support continuity of careMaintain confidentiality of resident health information and recordsResident Rights & Quality of LifeTreat every resident with lifts and other resident-care equipment according to trainingImmediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, hazards, or safety concernsFollow emergency procedures and assist appropriately during emergency situationsTeamwork & ProfessionalismWork collaboratively with licensed nurses, CNAs, fellow CMAs, and interdisciplinary team membersMaintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared for assignedQualificationsActive Kansas Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification in good standing, as required for the positionActive Kansas Medication Aide certification in good standingAbility to safely
