Student Lab Technician

Position Summary The Student Lab Technician works in a basic science research laboratory, operates lab equipment, performs experimental procedures, and collects and summarizes research data. Responsibilities include assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data for clinical and diagnostic research. The Student Lab Technician reports to the professor. Essential Functions Assists in conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of high complexity, collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data. Assists investigator or higher level technician with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment. Performs database queries of historical data and organization of data into spreadsheet for use in research studies. Work with other Research Assistants and maintaining an orderly and efficient research environment. Assists in the inventory of all reagents, supplies, and other materials in the research area. Ensures proper maintenance of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient use of Microsoft Office. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA. Required Education UIW students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a health, basic science, or related field. Required Work Experience None. Preferred Qualifications None. Required Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations None. Salary $15.00/hr Work Hours 20 hours per week, hours vary depending on lab schedules. Occasional Saturday responsibilities.
