Serving a diverse student population, CCD values individuals who contribute to its mission of advancing social, civic, and economic vitality.\nJob Summary:\nThe Assistant Director for the Accessibility Center (AC) plays a vital leadership role in ensuring equitable access to academic and campus resources for students with disabilities. This position supports the Director in overseeing departmental operations, developing inclusive programming, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The Assistant Director will work directly with students; supervise staff, collaborate with campus partners, and assist in creating a culture of inclusion and accessibility across the college. The position assists with strategic planning, assessment, technology implementation, policy development, and operational effectiveness while ensuring students receive timely, high-quality accommodations and support. In supporting the Director, the Assistant Director will demonstrate a strong commitment to student access; value diversity through involvement, Universal Design, participate in institutional projects and initiatives, and have a deep understanding of disability rights and inclusive practices.\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nStudent Support and Success / Case Management\n\n Conducts student intake interviews, assessing specific disability-related needs and applying appropriate accommodations.\n Coordinates the provision of accommodations for students with disabilities. This involves guiding students with understanding college processes and resources, collection of disability documentation, providing accommodations, and being proactive with accommodation renewals each semester while also encouraging student self-advocacy skills.\n Ensures AC student files are accurately and timely updated and maintained.\n Maintains confidential records of students’ disabilities, accommodation requests, and other relevant documentation.\n Collaborates with students to develop a student accommodation success plan that promotes access, retention, and completion.\n Assist students with resolving accessibility-related barriers in the academic and co-curricular environments.\n Acts as a liaison with faculty and staff to ensure the effective implementation of approved accommodations within classrooms, labs, and other college environments.\n Provides accurate data input to assist in data-informed practices and student success metric reporting.\n\nLeadership/ Supervision\n\n Coordinates hiring, supervising assignments, and scheduling of internal ASL Interpreters and/or external ASL Interpreter vendors as a needed accommodation for Community College of Denver (CCD)students working through the AC who are deaf and/or Hard of Hearing.\n Supervise and train internal ASL Interpreters on departmental procedures and expectations in order to meet student accommodations.\n Supervision, training, coaching and evaluation of hourly employees and work study students who work in the Accessibility Center as appropriate.\n Support the development and maintenance of departmental procedures, policies, and data systems (e.g., AIM or other accommodation management systems).\n Assist in budget planning, purchasing, report generation, and assessment efforts to measure program effectiveness and student outcomes.\n Maintain and coordinate the department’s purchasing and procurement processes. Ensure compliance with CCD and Colorado Community College System (CCCS) procurement procedures.\n Stay current with legal updates, trends, and best practices in disability services and post-secondary accommodation.\n Responsible for all records and record keeping related to accessibility services, complying with FERPA regulations and other relevant laws.\n Assist in the development and execution of program review, including but not limited to collecting and analyzing service data, preparing reports and presentations on program activities, outcomes and recommended service delivery and process improvements.\n Provide leadership for strategic planning, design, development, and implementation of disability services, programs, and training for students, faculty, and staff.\n Assist with the development and implementation of departmental procedures.\n Participate in professional development activities to stay current on best practices in disability services.\n Assist the Director with managing daily operations of the office, including case management, staff supervision, and coordination of services.\n Serve as acting director in the Director's absence.\n Acquire/purchase equipment needed to meet student accommodation requirements.\n\nStakeholder Outreach and Collaboration\n\n Educate faculty and staff on disability awareness, inclusive teaching practices, and the effective implementation of student accommodations.\n Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement reasonable and effective accommodations for students in the classroom and online learning environments.\n Through training and collaboration, provide direct support for instructional staff and academic & administrative staff and/or referral to the college’s Teaching Learning Center (TLC) regarding accessibility best practices and implementation of accommodations.\n Collaborate with campus departments and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students with disabilities promoting disability awareness and inclusion.\n Participate in campus-wide initiatives related to student support services, and retention strategies for students with disabilities.\n Collaborate with instructional departments, the college’s Teaching Learning Center (TLC), IT, and faculty to promote awareness of diverse learning needs, digital accessibility standards and overall accommodation standards mandated for persons with disabilities.\n Collaborate with the CARE Team, Student Conduct, Counseling, and other campus partners to support students experiencing disability-related crises or significant barriers to persistence.\n Develop opportunities for ongoing programming and community building, educating the campus community about the Accessibility Center.\n\nCompetencies/KSAs:\n\n Cultural competence and demonstrated evidence, understanding, and commitment to the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and their application in the workplace.\n •Must be able to work variable schedules based on student and departmental needs; evenings and weekends are minimal but sometimes required. \n •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.\n • Strong problem solving, trauma informed and conflict resolution skills to include maintaining an atmosphere of civility.\n •Experience in initiating and completing assessment that informs change or services within a department. \n •Supervision and evaluation experience for student employees and/or professional staff. \n •Understanding of compliance and legal requirements related to accommodation services at a college institution. \n • Knowledge of advancing technologies/Assistive Technology, disability related regulations, and privacy laws relevant to postsecondary institutions.\n •Adhere to system-wide college policies and procedures.\n •Maintain confidentiality while working effectively with all constituents.\n •Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to effectively utilize student information systems (Banner), accommodation management software (AIM or similar), learning management systems (D2L), EAB Navigate360, assistive technology, data reporting tools, and other technologies that support student access, accommodations, and departmental operations. Strong analytical and reporting skills.\n •Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple complex tasks, and meet deadlines.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n Completed Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Health Care, Human Services, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or closely related field\n Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and FERPA as they relate to postsecondary education with proven practical application as appropriate to postsecondary disability services.\n Three years working directly with persons with a variety of disabilities to provide accommodations within a higher education setting.\n Three years of documented professional level experience providing educational accommodation services to include case management and Assistive Technology or working as a teacher, professor, or instructor with people with disabilities.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n Completed Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Health Care, Human Services, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or closely related field\n Four or more years of experience supervising individuals who comprise a team in a higher education setting.\n Four or more years of experience in a disability services department working directly with students with disabilities in a post-secondary institution.\n One or more years of experience using current operating systems, developing, and maintaining administrative applications for collecting, analyzing and reporting departmental data. [Banner, EAB Navigate360, D2L, AIM, Microsoft 365]\n Familiarity with psychometric and psychological/learning assessment reports.\n One or more years of experience providing instruction or support for accommodative application software, Assistive Technology and alternative media format production.\n Working knowledge of Assistive Technology and current assistive hardware and software.\n Bilingual skills or multilingual skills, inclusive of American Sign Language (ASL).\n Experience working in the Higher Education setting, specifically Community Colleges.\n\nSelection Process:\nPreliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application packet submitted by candidate.
