Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Active educational interpreter certification from the Louisiana Department of Education is required.
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with interpreting within an educational setting.
• Strong communication skills and an ability to facilitate clear understanding between students, staff, and families.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams or prior work in a school environment is highly valued.
• Adaptable and compassionate, with a genuine commitment to supporting students’ success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services for students, facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, classmates, and school staff.
• Interpret in various settings such as classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed.
• Collaborate with educators, other interpreters, and school staff to support students’ educational goals.
• Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethics while ensuring all interpretations are accurate and appropriate.
• Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
