JOB TITLE : Manager, Quality REPORTS TO : Vice President, Product Development DEPARTMENT : Product Development
OVERVIEW
The Quality Manager is responsible for supporting and executing all quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) functions to ensure product integrity and compliance with Summer Fridays’ standards and regulatory requirements. This role partners cross-functionally to help develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS), manage quality documentation and approvals, ensure vendor and contract manufacturer (CM) qualification, and support continuous improvement across the supply chain. The Quality Manager plays a key role in driving consistent quality practices across the supply chain, contributing to continuous improvement efforts, and helping to mitigate risk through strong collaboration, attention to detail, and effective vendor engagement.RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner in creating, implementing, and maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with business and regulatory needs Review and approve bulk and finished goods (FG) samples, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and specifications; document all approvals in accordance with internal protocols Manage Non-Conformance Report (NCR) and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes for both production issues and customer complaints Review and revise SOPs created by previous cross-functional teams to align with current business models and brand-specific requirements Lead onboarding and training of contract manufacturers (CMs) on all Summer Fridays’ quality procedures and expectations Maintain formula and FG standards; ensure alignment of specifications with CMs Assist in drafting, negotiating and implementing Quality Agreements with CMs and key suppliers Manage comprehensive Supplier Qualification Program for both contract manufacturers and component/packaging vendors Assist in conducting and documenting quality questionnaires, vendor assessments, and qualification processes Review all quality-related documentation for accuracy and completeness; prepare and distribute quality reports as needed Partner with Operations to evaluate and qualify vendors for current and new programs Monitor and report on quality performance metrics and trends on a quarterly basis Review vendor certifications, manage audit programs, and ensure ongoing compliance Create and manage SOPs, quality forms and templates to support internal and external quality functions Coordinate sample collection, shipment and evaluation for new component vendors Represent Quality onsite at CMs or packaging suppliers to conduct inspections and validate CAPAs Additional responsibilities as assigned/necessaryREQUIREMENTS
3-5 years of quality management experience within the skincare, beauty or CPG industry Proven experience managing QMS frameworks and leading QA/QC functions Strong working knowledge of cGMPs, ISO standards, and FDA regulatory requirements Experience working with contract manufacturers and packaging/component suppliers Excellent documentation practices, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills Strong cross‑functional collaboration and communication abilities Exceptional detail‑orientation with a proactive, solutions‑driven mindset Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience with QMS software and ERP systems is a plus Must be based in Greater Los Angeles area Summer Fridays is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a workplace where all team members feel welcomed, valued, and respected.
