Marketing and Events Coordinator

Position Summary The Marketing and Events Coordinator supports the marketing and communications strategy for the Career and Professional Development (CPD) office, utilizing a variety of social, digital, and traditional communications channels, including the CPD website. Responsibilities include collaborating across CPD teams to coordinate communication with students, alumni, and campus partners; maintaining social media to support the overall communications strategy; and curating content helpful to students and alumni in their job and internship searches. The Coordinator also leads and coordinates campus‑wide events. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to increase awareness of CPD and engagement with career development activities among students, alumni, and constituents, supporting the University’s bold goal of improving student outcomes. Lead and coordinate several campus‑wide programs and events, including space reservations, audiovisual needs, catering, accessibility accommodations, vendor coordination, and post‑event follow‑up. Create promotional and marketing collateral such as social media content, digital displays, website and online content, email templates, newsletters, and outreach materials. Maintain a coordinated communications and marketing schedule and workflow with CPD staff and student employees, ensuring timely delivery of content and consistent branding. Plan, develop, update, and maintain website content (text, images, and multimedia) using the university’s web platform. Draft, execute, and send bi‑weekly and monthly newsletters for internal and external stakeholders. Develop templates for flyers, digital screens, email newsletters, and announcements, and review all content for consistency with DU branding guidelines. Contribute to updating digital screens in common areas and promote CPD events through various channels (social media, digital screens, newsletters, blog, etc.). Coordinate event logistics, speakers, partners, and facilitators, managing invitations, confirmations, materials, and on‑site needs. Support CPD staff and student employees involved in events by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring clear communication and accountability. Participate in campus tabling events to promote CPD to students. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing and communications initiatives that advance CPD and institutional goals. Knowledge of digital engagement strategies, including email marketing, social media, and content development, with proficiency in using analytics and data for continuous improvement. Proven event planning skills: managing logistics, stakeholder relationships, and promotion to support student engagement and outcomes. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate, build relationships, and communicate clearly with a wide range of campus partners and stakeholders. Attention to detail and commitment to quality, with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize competing demands. Strong customer‑service orientation, maintaining professionalism and adaptability in responding to changing needs. Initiative, professionalism, and sound judgment, with strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills. Project management and technical aptitude, including working knowledge of content‑management systems, design and photo‑editing tools, and web editing platforms. Commitment to inclusiveness, actively creating a workplace where all community members feel welcomed, valued, and empowered. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. At least 2 years of marketing and/or communications experience, including experience communicating with young adult audiences. Experience in digital marketing. Experience coordinating and executing events. Preferred Qualifications Experience with marketing, communication, and events in higher education or a similarly complex environment with multiple audiences. Experience with web content management platforms and Adobe Creative Suite or similar design and editing tools. Working Environment Standard office environment. Unexpected interruptions occur often; stress level is moderate to high. Noise level is quiet to moderate. Physical Activities Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus. Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The position may be considered for partial remote work, depending on division and team needs. Salary Salary Grade: 8 Salary: $57,784. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range based on qualifications, budget, and internal equity.
