WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview) Reporting to the Director of Social Engagement, the Social Engagement Specialist will develop and execute a wide range of compellingsocial-first content to promote the mission of the Red Cross.The successful candidatefor this position will have a background in social media content creation and strategy, a penchant for creativity,an eye for detail, strong project management skills, and a passion for testing out the latest social technologies. The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States but must work an East Coast schedule. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities) Create innovative, social-first content for the national American Red Cross social media channels, developing platform-specific strategies that drive engagement, audience growth, and brand relevance. Develop compelling, people-centered storytelling that brings the American Red Cross mission to life, increases audience awareness, and inspires action. Serve as the primarysocial media point of contactfor Training Services, Service to the Armed Forces, Volunteer Services, Youth Engagement, Archives, and Mission, Impact & Inclusion, helping these teams translate initiatives and business goals into engaging social-first content. Work withthe Social Engagementteam and stakeholders across the organization to execute social media strategies for national campaigns. Measure and evaluate social media performance, utilizing data and audience insights to inform content strategy, communicate results to stakeholders, and drive buy-in. Manage social engagement projects, coordinating deliverables in a timely manner. Serve as a social media subject matter expert, providing training, technical guidance and strategic counsel to regional communicators and stakeholders. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field. Minimum of 5 years of related experience, including social media management, editorial production, communications, marketingand/or corporate-related public relationsand digital content creation. Excellent writing and editing skills, and familiarity with AP style. Strong critical thinking and strategic planning skills to create engaging, audience-centric content. Candidate must be a strong content creator with a proven track record of producing compelling and engaging content and strategizing around social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Threads, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Experience producing social video, as well as experience using social media management platforms like Sprout Social, is a must. Proficiency in using data to inform content strategy includinganalyzing contentperformance, audience behaviors, and channel trends. Understandingof SEO principles and how to apply them to create and optimize content for search and audience discoverability. Familiarity with and commitment to the Red Cross mission. Candidate must have the ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with people at all levels of a large, complex organization, and be an independent problem solver. Comfortable working with and managing volunteers. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is essential. This position sometimes requires irregular or extended hours, especially during disasters or other emergencies. Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted). Pay Information PAY INFORMATION: The annual salary range for this position is $75K - $85K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience. Scope: Individual contributor that works under limited supervision.
