Chief Executive Officer
Highlands Oncology Group, PA.
Highlands Oncology seeks an accomplished, growth-oriented, physician-centric CEO to lead strategic expansion, organizational advancement, and long-term value creation. As the senior non-physician executive, the CEO will partner with the Board, physician shareholders, and physician leaders to set vision, align stakeholders, strengthen performance, and execute through a high-performing leadership team. Key Experience Requirements Qualified candidates should demonstrate: Executive leadership of a complex, multi-site healthcare or physician-practice organization. Multi-region or multi-state operations oversight in regulated healthcare markets. Full P&L, operating budget, capital planning, and resource-allocation accountability. Growth through markets, sites, service lines, partnerships, affiliations, or acquisitions. Physician partnership, governance alignment, trust-building, and difficult decision-making. Negotiation with hospitals, health systems, payers, vendors, or strategic partners. Use of analytics, operating reviews, and leadership teams to drive accountability, quality, compliance, and results. Oncology experience is strongly preferred; comparable physician-practice, ambulatory, specialty-care, or healthcare-services leadership may be considered. Leadership Attributes The successful candidate will be: Strategic, financially sophisticated, and growth-oriented. Trusted by physicians and the Board; able to influence without relying on authority. Clear, composed, transparent, decisive, and accountable. Entrepreneurial yet disciplined in evaluating markets, services, partnerships, and investments. Committed to quality, access, ethics, integrity, patient experience, and continuous improvement. Strategy, Governance, and Physician Partnership The CEO will partner with the Board and physician leaders to: Set long-term strategy, growth priorities, governance expectations, and success measures. Align strategy, capital plans, operating goals, budgets, and leadership accountability. Provide transparent Board reporting on performance, risks, trends, opportunities, and investments. Build trust and alignment around mission, values, goals, enterprise decisions, and tradeoffs. Growth, Revenue, and Market Expansion The CEO will lead growth and capital deployment by: Identifying and executing organic and strategic growth opportunities. Diversifying revenue through clinical, ancillary, pharmacy, research, imaging, radiation, infusion, value-based care, and related services. Developing business cases for sites, services, technology, partnerships, acquisitions, and market entry. Strengthening referral, community, hospital, payer, and market relationships. Ensuring growth is funded, integrated, operationally sound, and aligned with quality standards. Multi-Site Operations The CEO will oversee a geographically distributed organization by: Leading through empowered executives, consistent standards, and local flexibility. Overseeing operations across regions, regulatory environments, payer markets, and labor markets. Establishing scalable systems, decision rights, communication rhythms, and accountability. Improving capacity, throughput, utilization, reliability, and access. Supporting new sites with infrastructure, leadership capacity, compliance, and integration planning. Financial and Business Leadership The CEO will be accountable for financial performance, capital allocation, and resource stewardship by: Driving margin, cash flow, balance-sheet strength, and sustainable performance. Holding leaders accountable for budgets, forecasts, financial implications, and results. Improving volume, productivity, staffing, drug costs, denials, reimbursement, profitability, and ROI. Negotiating with payers, hospitals, vendors, health systems, management organizations, and partners. Balancing financial discipline with quality, access, and physician partnership. Stakeholder Alignment Success will require credibility with physician shareholders and the ability to lead through trust, influence, and sound governance. The CEO will: Serve as a trusted partner to the Board, physician shareholders, and physician leaders. Build alignment among physicians, executives, functional leaders, and external partners. Communicate issues, options, risks, tradeoffs, and implications clearly. Represent Highlands Oncology credibly in its communities and markets. Organizational and Talent Leadership The CEO will build a scalable, accountable leadership organization by: Recruiting, coaching, developing, and retaining strong clinical and business leaders. Clarifying roles, decision rights, accountability, expectations, and escalation paths. Empowering leaders to manage operations within strategic, financial, and governance parameters. Building succession depth, workforce strategy, leadership capacity, and change discipline. Fostering trust, transparency, respect, accountability, collaboration, and improvement. Quality, Patient Experience, and Compliance The CEO will keep growth and financial performance aligned with the patient-care mission by: Centering quality, safety, access, outcomes, and patient experience in decisions. Setting enterprise expectations for quality, safety, compliance, and experience. Partnering with clinical leaders to address quality, safety, regulatory, and operational risks. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, payer, accreditation, privacy, security, and oncology-specific requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr
