Overview
This travel Registered Nurse position focuses on Case Management in a hospital setting in Sitka, Alaska. Start date: 10/05/2026 for a 13-week contract with guaranteed 40 hours per week. Responsibilities
- Review patient records and progression; monitor the necessity and appropriateness of hospitalization, length of stay, and quality of care; support timely discharge planning.
- Perform utilization management and case management duties, including evaluation of medical necessity, level of care, and coordination with payers and regulatory requirements.
- Review and validate physician orders; document progress and communicate results to the care team and payers; address unusual occurrences as needed.
- Develop personalized treatment plans for new admissions based on patient condition and needs; coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and the clinical team to ensure services are appropriate, cost-effective, and compliant with UM/CM/DCP plans.
- Maintain thorough documentation and participate in interdisciplinary care discussions; assist with appeals and notifications as required.

Requirements
- Active Alaska nursing license required (at time of submission)
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- 8 years of clinical care or nursing experience, with at least 3 years in chart review, risk management, or related quality service
- Case Management certification by a recognized certifying organization (e.g., NCQA, CCMC) preferred
- Flu vaccine required
- Start date will be no less than six weeks after fingerprint cards are received and processed; travelers must complete fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process
- Knowledge of basic ICD-9/CPT coding; CMS regulations; strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a hospital setting and collaborate with providers and teams
