Senior Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially robust cost estimates for a range of projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, procurement specialists, subcontractors, and clients, you will assess tender documentation, develop pricing strategies, and provide detailed cost advice from initial concept through to contract award. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional who can combine technical expertise with sound judgement and strong attention to detail.


Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract conditions; preparing detailed estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions; obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; analysing labour, material, plant, and overhead costs; and identifying risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities for value engineering. You will maintain estimating databases and cost plans, contribute to bid reviews and presentations, support negotiations, and ensure all estimates are completed within agreed timescales and quality standards. You will also assist with improving estimating processes, mentoring less experienced team members, and maintaining accurate records to support future project forecasting.


Applicants should have significant experience in a senior estimating or pre-construction role, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, or a related industry. A strong understanding of estimating methodologies, procurement routes, commercial principles, and relevant contract forms is essential. You will be confident interpreting technical documentation and using estimating, project management, and spreadsheet software to produce clear and reliable outputs. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required, along with the ability to manage competing deadlines, work collaboratively, and present complex cost information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional qualifications or relevant industry membership would be advantageous.
