Civil Litigation Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Civil Litigation Attorney for its Woodbury, NY office. This role offers the chance to work with seasoned litigators on complex professional liability cases in a dynamic environment. The position provides hands‑on experience, client interaction, and mentorship while representing professionals, businesses, and insurers in diverse litigation matters. Duties Handle all phases of professional liability defense litigation from inception through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation‑related documents. Conduct legal research, assist with litigation strategy, and case analysis. Manage discovery, prepare for, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation. Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance. Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters. Provide proactive case management and client reporting. Requirements Admission to practice in New York required. 2‑6 years of litigation and/or professional liability defense experience. Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced litigation environment. Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications Admission to the New York State Bar. Skills Experience in professional liability defense litigation. Knowledge of Errors & Omission (E&O) claims. Experience with legal malpractice, accountant malpractice, insurance broker liability, or other professional liability matters. Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances. Experience working with insurers and insured professionals.
