Position Overview and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for coordinating and delivering exceptional, patient-focused care that aligns with departmental needs and adheres to the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Working alongside medical professionals and other care team members, the RN provides tailored, comprehensive, and compassionate care by employing established nursing frameworks such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization’s vision, mission, and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes, thereby contributing to overall departmental success.

  • Regularly evaluates patient pain to ensure effective pain management, including follow-up assessments after interventions.
  • Conducts procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as directed by medical providers. Accurately documents care provided in the patient’s medical record in a timely manner.
  • Delivers outstanding care by promptly addressing patient requests and proactively anticipating their needs.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up actions, simplifying complex medical terms for better understanding.
  • Instructs patients, families, and caregivers on non-pharmaceutical follow-up measures, including healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and self-management strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be secured within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training must be completed within 90 days of starting employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 1 year of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • An Associate Degree is necessary.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course or TNCC Instructor certification must be completed within 6 months of starting employment.

Our facility is a 250+ bed establishment and is recognized as Tennessee’s first comprehensive stroke center, as well as a national leader in neuroscience. We are equipped with three helipads, new ICU and Medical/Surgical floors, and specialized burn care services. Our CARF-accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation program and ACS-verified Level II Trauma Center further enhance our capabilities. As an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, we are a premier provider of emergency cardiac care.
