Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) - Rincon, GA

Job Description

Make a significant impact working with students who are visually impaired by providing essential orientation and mobility services for the upcoming academic year. This contract position offers the chance to guide and empower students from 2nd grade through high school, adapting instruction across different school locations in the Rincon/Savannah area. Design your own schedule to best meet the needs of your students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring every child receives the support they deserve.

Qualifications & Experience:

Valid COMS certification from ACVREP
Current GaPSC teaching certification
Prior experience working with visually impaired (VI) students, ideally across multiple grade levels
Strong ability to manage independent schedules and travel to different school sites
Commitment to supporting educational access and independence for VI learners

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver orientation and mobility assessments and instruction onsite only
Collaborate with other special education and general education staff as needed
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized O&M goals for each student
Document student progress, preparing reports for IEP meetings
Consult with families and educators to support skill generalization across environments
