CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant, LTACH Stepdown Unit

Summary: Provide essential patient care by assisting with daily activities and monitoring patient conditions in a long-term acute care stepdown unit. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment to support patient recovery and comfort. Major Responsibilities:
This role is based in a regional healthcare facility serving the Southeastern United States, offering a supportive and collaborative environment focused on patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
- Assist with patient admissions, including orientation to unit routines and equipment.
- Respond promptly to patient needs, providing direct assistance or notifying appropriate staff.
- Support nursing care plans by performing delegated tasks.
- Ensure patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
- Manage medication and supply retrieval for patient care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas.
- Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging.
- Engage in educational and performance improvement activities.
- Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency.
- Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read and understand English.
- Flexibility in work tasks and schedules.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of age-specific patient care considerations.
- Ability to work variable shifts including nights.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning.
- Visual and auditory acuity to observe patient conditions.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids with adherence to safety protocols.
