Event Staff - Usher

The Memorial/Lowell Hall Complex (home of Sanders Theatre, Annenberg Hall) at Harvard University seeks additional Event Staff to support a busy calendar of events & activity hosted in our venues year-round. Primary responsibilities include: Acting as an usher for public events – greeting, guiding, and assisting guests (includes scanning tickets, directing patrons to their seats, distributing programs, directing lines/foot traffic, and ensuring venue safety) Monitoring guests to follow venue policies (ex. photography, recording, food & drink, etc). Guiding attendees to safety in the event of an emergency evacuation Pre/Post‑event venue reset, including light changeover tasks (moving chairs, music stands, percussion instruments, setting up signs, programs, etc.) This position offers flexible hours with shift sign‑ups posted on a monthly basis. Maximum 14 hours / week, year‑round. Expected four shifts per month minimum unless pre‑arranged with management. Standard shifts range from 4-5 hours. Shift availability varies based on events schedule. Peak seasons of activity include August-September, December-January, May-June. Qualifications: Usher experience is not required, but a background in customer service and/or Performing Arts is preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Customer service oriented Must be able to lift 25lbs, use stairs easily, and stand for extended periods of time About this Organization: The Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex at Harvard University oversees activities at Sanders Theatre, Annenberg Hall and Lowell Lecture Hall.
