Complex Director of Sales

Description StepStone Hospitality is looking for a talented and strategic‑minded Area Director of Sales to join our team at the Holiday Inn Express Ballantyne Hotel in NC and the TownePlace Suites Fort Mill Hotel in SC. As an Area Director of Sales, your primary objectives are... Establish and maintain relationships with current clients and identify new business from a result of the relationship Be responsible for proactively soliciting and managing group / catering related opportunities Effectively source out new corporate clients Prospect to identify and close new business and conduct site tours for potential clients at both locations Work with the General Managers of each property and the VP of Sales and Marketing to achieve required sales goals. Respond to all sales inquiries, RFPs, and other leads accurately, timely, and in a professional manner Type correspondence, reports, and necessary forms i.e. contracts, as well as prepare proposals or other letters as directed Implement sales policies and procedures as developed in the annual Marketing Plan Make personal sales calls Develop creative marketing techniques Develop and maintain relationships with the local Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau Participate in the preparation of the annual hotel budget Maintain and correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and security of financial assets Manage and develop sales team including training, counseling, evaluating, and rewarding behaviors Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner Participate in the Executive committee including sharing and communicating knowledge and by attending weekly or monthly meetings. Other duties as assigned Requirements Have at least 2 years of experience in a hotel sales management role Comprehensive knowledge of market position, OCC, ADR, banquet and food and beverage revenues, overall GOP, pricing and rate structures, sales strategies, yield management, booking trends, and future hotel planning. Be fully knowledgeable of competitive markets outside the area. Be fully knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of the hotel and departments that may impact sales strategies. Achieve and exceed individual and team annual goals as established by the annual Marketing Plan. Be fully knowledgeable of the role of rooms merchandising as it pertains to overall revenue and to periodically evaluate, assess, and revise the parameters of the program. Must have comprehensive knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors. Ability to assist with the design and preparation of statistical reports and presentations as needed. Ability to accurately report information. Ability to assist with various office tasks as needed. Ability to scrupulously follow all StepStone and hotel policies and procedures. Ensures that he/she adheres to all sales administrative processes that are in place from the StepStone Corporate Office. Attend required meetings. Minimum lifting and pulling of 20 pounds. Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity Must add to the camaraderie of the hotel by helping to celebrate the successes of coworkers Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions. Must have a comprehensive knowledge applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations. Must have exceptional mathematical and computer skills.
