Outpatient Clinical Nutrition Coordinator

The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator provides quality nutrition care and education to patients and family members, under the direction of the Director of Clinical Nutrition. The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator coordinates departmental initiatives and education programs. Maintains level of clinical expertise for assigned area and recommends the appropriate nutrition therapy as it pertains to the patient's nutritional needs. Acts as a resource to all clinical staff and provides feedback for their professional development. Adheres to all applicable regulatory agency guidelines, and to department and hospital philosophies, standards, objectives and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include demonstrating advanced practice in clinical focus area, evaluating the nutritional status of patients, providing individualized counseling to patients and caregivers, conducting nutrition-focused physical exams, documenting all encounters in the electronic health record, coordinating projects and activities, demonstrating leadership through the coordination and implementation of initiatives that promote nutrition services in the practice, coordinating quality assurance monitoring and reporting activities, developing and updating nutrition education materials, precepting dietetic interns, participating in research activities for ambulatory practice, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor, accepting and incorporating feedback for clinical development, supporting department/program goals, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution, with completion of ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition & Dietetics)-accredited dietetic internship, 3+ years of clinical experience, Registered dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required, Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) from the NYS Department of Education Office of the Professions required or process initiated upon hire, and Advanced Certification, i.e. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), and/or Pediatric/Renal/Oncology Specialty encouraged, but not required.

Compensation Statement: The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,885.00 - $98,280.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
