Structural Steel Fitter/Welder – York, PA

Location: York, PA
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Pay: Up to $25/hour, depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour

• Structural Steel Fitter – 1st Shift: 1 opening
• Structural Steel Fitter – 2nd Shift: 2 openings
• Structural Steel Welder/Fitter – 1st Shift: 1 opening

Position Summary

Hiring experienced structural steel fabricators for a contract-to-hire opportunity. Depending on experience, work may focus on steel fitting or combine fitting with Flux Core welding . Candidates will use drawings and measurements to lay out, position, fit, and assemble structural steel components.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications .
• Measure, mark, and lay out structural steel for fabrication.
• Position and align steel members for accurate fit-up.
• Fit and assemble components prior to welding.
• Perform Flux Core welding for Welder/Fitter assignments.
• Set up and operate a track torch .
• Properly use and maintain welding and fabrication equipment and tools.
• Inspect measurements, alignment, fit-up, and finished work for accuracy.
• Coordinate with supervisors and coworkers to meet production schedules.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow required safety and workplace procedures.

Requirements

• 3+ years of structural steel fabrication experience .
• Previous experience as a Structural Steel Fitter, Welder/Fitter, Structural Welder , or similar role.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with structural steel layout, fitting, and assembly.
• Knowledge of welding processes, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to set up and operate a track torch .
• Ability to perform Flux Core welding and successfully complete a pre-employment welding test.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate workmanship.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• AWS or other recognized welding certification preferred.
