Managing Director - Boston Department: Property Admin Employment Type: Full Time Location: LightView - Boston, MA Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 / year Description The Managing Director is responsible for the overall operation, performance, and success of a high-value American Campus community. This role ensures that all operations align with company standards, policies, and procedures while maintaining the highest level of quality. The Managing Director develops and executes strategies related to leasing, marketing, expense control, and facilities operations. This role plays a critical part in enhancing the resident experience by leading a high-performing team and delivering exceptional customer service and professional management.

The ideal candidate for the Managing Director role is an experienced leader in student or multi-family housing, operations management, asset management, or a related industry, who can effectively oversee property operations, financial performance, team development, and resident experience within a high-value community. This role includes leading leasing, marketing, facilities, and operational strategies while ensuring alignment with company standards and long-term asset goals. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, along with experience in areas such as operations management, asset management, budgeting, customer service, facilities oversight, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is comfortable partnering with university stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to support community performance and operational consistency. While candidates may bring varying levels of experience across all functional areas, they should be prepared to lead teams, support strategic initiatives, and drive property performance across a complex operating environment. - Maintain direct accountability for financial performance, including achieving revenue targets, managing expenses, and maximizing profitability.
- Directly responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the community, ensuring alignment with company standards across leasing, resident experience, facilities functions, and partner/university relationships.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Asset Management by executing community-level operational strategies that support financial performance, asset preservation, and long-term value creation.
- Develop and execute leasing and marketing strategies to achieve occupancy and revenue goals in alignment with company standards.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with associated partners, university stakeholders, and vendors while serving as the primary on-site representative, providing insights on performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure timely implementation of action plans to drive performance.
- Establish and maintain operational standards that reflect the expectations of a high-value community.
- Oversee purchasing, vendor relationships, and expense management to ensure budget compliance and cost control in line with company procurement standards.
- Compile and ensure the accuracy of financial data for reporting, audits, and financial statements.
- Oversee the team to ensure effective resident communication, community engagement, and efficient building operations.
- Provide strategic oversight of facilities operations through the on-site facilities leader, ensuring:
- Timely completion of work orders and service standards
- Execution of preventative maintenance programs
- Effective planning and execution of the Turn process
- Day-to-day facilities operations run in alignment with company standards
- Review and approve facilities-related bids, contracts, and capital projects, ensuring alignment with budget and asset strategy.
- Execute and manage vendor contracts, including negotiation and performance oversight.
- Lead, develop, and hold the on-site team accountable for performance, including setting goals, conducting evaluations, and supporting ongoing development in alignment with company standards and timing.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service by prioritizing resident needs, responsiveness, and follow-through.
- Support resident relations strategies, effective communication with
- residents and timely resolution of escalated resident concerns.
- Oversee community event initiatives and attend community events as needed.
- Ensure the community maintains exceptional curb appeal, safety, and physical condition standards.
- Identify and advocate for capital improvements to enhance asset value.
- Serve as an additional lease executor as needed and oversee collections and eviction processes.
- Ensure all staff remain compliant with company policies and all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Support risk management and safety initiatives across the community.
- Carries out supervisor responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Coach, train and develop a team while managing the workflow and prioritization of projects and ensuring on-time execution and completion.

- 6+ years' of leadership experience in student or multi-family housing, or similar industry.
- Bachelor's degree in business or relevant field preferred.
- Skills in leasing and marketing, customer service, facility management, budgeting, supervision, business administration, public relations, residence life, and a combination of business and student development skills.
