Position Marketing Manager Reports to: Executive Director Part‑Time Hybrid Position (3-4 days/week) Introduction The DANK Haus German American Cultural Center is a 501(c)3 non‑profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting German language and culture. Our center serves as a vibrant hub for the community, offering a language school, a museum, and a wide array of cultural events ranging from traditional festivals like Oktoberfest to modern art exhibitions, as well as venue rentals to the community. To learn more about our history and core values visit Position Summary The Marketing Manager plays a vital role in enhancing the visibility of the DANK Haus and its diverse services and programming. This role is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, managing digital and print communications, overseeing the website, and managing merchandise inventory. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who thrives in a team environment and can collaborate effectively across various departments, including education, museum collections, development, programming and venue rentals. The individual will also maintain collaborative relationships with key partner organizations in the German and Chicago community. The Manager should be a detail‑oriented, creative thinker with exceptional writing skills, the ability to represent the mission through storytelling, and understand the Haus’ diverse audience demographics and relationships to help drive engagement. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement all aspects of marketing for a small nonprofit. Align marketing materials across channels. Preserve and promote the DANK Haus brand. Develop communications calendar and design and write all communications to create digital and print materials. Create written content and visuals for the DANK Haus’ website, marketing emails, and campaigns, print brochures, donor emails and cultivation materials, press releases, and community outreach. Develop email campaigns, segment audience lists, import contacts, and analyze open and click‑through rates. Update and maintain website written content in collaboration with departments. Develop a strategy for refreshing content, improving navigation and increasing traffic to the site and SEO. Assist with the development of communications including but not limited to the language school newsletter, the annual report, fundraising communiques, and Gala materials. Creatively promote DANK Haus events, services, programs, and community opportunities. Develop print materials including flyers, posters, and invites. Develop and implement a social media strategy across all channels and across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn. Monitor, evaluate, and utilize data to determine strategy. Identify trends and provide recommendations for new ways to promote the DANK Haus’ brand and mission. Support the design of sponsorship packets, proposals, and reports for foundations and corporate sponsors. Identify, select, promote and manage the inventory of DANK Haus promotional merchandise. Attend and support execution of major events, may entail weekend or evening hours. Qualifications Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in marketing or digital strategy fields. Mindset: Passionate about developing relationships, whether in person or digitally. Mission‑driven and excited to use skills to help grow a small nonprofit. Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Google Suite, Canva, CapCut, Loomly, Constant Contact and Wild Apricot, or another website builder is required. Video Production: Demonstrated ability to create and edit promotional videos. Adaptability: A proven ability to learn new software and technologies quickly to meet the evolving needs of a non‑profit environment. Soft Skills: Impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively, manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and present solution‑oriented ideas and take ownership of the job. Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree (or equivalent) is required. Language Skills: German language skills (written and/or spoken) are a plus.
