Commercial General Contractor | New Jersey


A respected and growing commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This individual will play a vital role in developing competitive bids for public and commercial construction projects ranging from renovations to large-scale ground-up work.


This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented estimator who enjoys collaborating with subcontractors, building accurate estimates, and contributing to the successful pursuit of high-profile projects.


Key Responsibilities

• Prepare complete and accurate estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure complete bid coverage and competitive pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities throughout the estimating process.
• Assemble bid proposals and ensure all submission requirements are completed accurately and on time.
• Coordinate with project management during project turnover and assist with pricing changes, change orders, and scope revisions throughout construction.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners while monitoring market pricing and construction trends.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction estimating experience , preferably with a general contractor.
• Public-sector construction estimating experience is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated success estimating projects ranging from approximately $10 million to $40 million .
• Strong understanding of commercial building systems, including structural, civil, architectural, and MEP components.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements with a high level of accuracy.
• Working knowledge of project scheduling principles and construction sequencing.
• Experience preparing conceptual budgets as well as detailed hard-bid estimates.
