U.S. Army Physician Assistant - Active Duty and Army Reserve Opportunities Use your physician assistant training to provide care where it matters most - as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps. Army Physician Assistants deliver patient-centered diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, and readiness-focused care for Soldiers, their families, and military communities. This role combines clinical practice with leadership, professional development, and the opportunity to serve in a variety of military medical settings. What You'll Do As an Army Physician Assistant, you may: Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients within your approved clinical privileges. Develop treatment plans, prescribe as authorized, coordinate referrals, and support continuity of care. Provide acute, chronic, preventive, and readiness-related care. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, medics, and other interdisciplinary health care professionals. Support medical planning, patient stabilization, and patient movement when assigned. Lead clinical teams and contribute to unit and military health system readiness. Pursue professional military education, continuing education, and specialty-development opportunities based on qualifications and Army requirements. Choose a Path That Fits Your Career Active Duty: Serve full time as an Army officer and health care professional, with assignments determined by Army requirements, available positions, and your qualifications. Army Reserve: Continue your civilian career while serving part time in the Army Reserve. Reserve service requirements, incentives, and benefits vary by program and individual eligibility.
