Asset Protection Associate

Overview: The Asset Protection Associate is responsible for maintaininga safe and secureenvironment for our associates and customers and securing Scheels' assets while demonstrating professional asset protection standards. This individual will be responsible for deterring criminal activity by adhering to a facility’s security measures. The duties include reviewing video surveillance equipment to identify suspicious behaviors, patrolling the interior and exterior of a property at set intervals, and only providing property access to authorized individuals. You will work hand in hand with the corporate risk management leaders to ensure company safe practices are maintained. What We Commit To – Our Employee Ownership Values As an employee-owner, you’re expected to actively contribute to a culture that thrives on: Delivering a Personalized WOW Customer Experience Every customer interaction is an opportunity to exceed expectations We focus on making every visit memorable, personalized, and impactful Having a Team-First, Winning Mentality We succeed together by supporting one another and celebrating team wins Collaboration and unity drive our performance and customer experience Learning and Adapting to Constant Change We embrace growth, innovation, and feedback Change is not a barrier–it’s a catalyst for improvement and excellence Taking Pride in Our Work and Thinking Like Owners Every task matters, and we take full responsibility for the results Ownership means accountability, care, and drive to go above and beyond Expecting Honesty and Integrity in All That We Do Trust is the foundation of our relationships–with customers and with each other We act with transparency, fairness, and respect at all times Responsibilities: Asset Protection Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud Addressing external theft concerns through uniform presence with strategic methods, as well as apprehending shoplifters when appropriate, according to company policy, ethical standards, and guidelines Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on-site interviews Documenting incidents by creating objective and thorough reports in a timely manner Maintaining all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards Developing and maintaining knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment Assisting in monitoring store compliance with company policies and procedures relating to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls, as assigned by the supervisor Maintain a highly visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate, as well as assist with inventory controls Ability to work night, weekend, and/or early morning hours based on business needs Safety Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally, and assist them in locating staff within the stores Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts Examine and properly tag property being brought into the stores, including personal property, equipment for service, and firearms Watch facilities and parking areas on foot. Direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, while enforcing parking regulations Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure the safety and security of the customers and facility Complete monthly reports on safe or non-safe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks Education & Experience: High School Diploma/GED College graduate preferred Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills Preference for candidates with prior Loss prevention (2-3 years) Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
