What You'll Do

• Provide bedside care for patients in a Stroke Certified, Chest-pain accredited facility
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to clinical needs in Med-Surg and Telemetry units
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips (without titration), and manage chest tubes and dialysis patients as directed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including RT, OT, PT, and Speech Therapy
• Support unit operations, including phlebotomy, IV placement, and patient education
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR (Meditech Expanse)
• Float between units as needed to support hospital staff

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care (first-time travelers need 2 years of recent perm staff RN experience)
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam and read cardiac strips
• Strong clinical skills, including IV placement and wound care support
• Flexibility to work every other weekend, major holidays, and 4/3 workweek schedule

About the Assignment
Join a well-established hospital in Shreveport, LA, that specializes in stroke and chest-pain care with 325 licensed beds. You will work on a busy Med/Surg/Telemetry unit caring for diverse patient populations, including transplant, CHF, COPD, and DKA patients. The unit accommodates a typical RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 during days and nights, with support from charge nurses, resource nurses, and a team of RTs and therapists. The assignment includes mandatory weekend work, holiday coverage, and initial orientation at the hospital's Education Center.
