Financial Controller

Job Description NBC’s Controller position is designed for an effective leader, who strategically plans and resolves financial matters, and who possesses good ethics and business acumen. Candidates should be capable of properly ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, particularly during the financial close of specific periods. Expected to work semi-independently with a like-minded group of professionals who directly contribute to the success of the Bank. The general responsibilities of the position, which are all completed within the framework of Bank polices and procedures, are: Supporting the SVP/Chief Financial Officer in ensuring the effective operation of the accounting department by performing or supervising various accounting duties; These duties include but are not limited to supervising and directing the daily accounting operations, daily cash management processes and accounts payable process. Managing financial operations, facilitating accurate reporting, steering budgeting/planning processes and regulatory compliance; Supervise and manage the accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end general ledger close processes; Oversight of all accounting functions, included but not limited to loans and deposits, investment, tax, fixed assets, accounts payable and all general ledger reconciliations; Preparation or review of various financial reports that include budgets, board reports, financial statement preparation, liquidity projections, capital projections and creating a level of analytic comfort with the content of the reports; Contribute to asset liability management practices; interest rate risk projections, maintaining model inputs and accuracy of assumptions, preparation of ALCO package; Prepares and/or reviews regulatory reports including the quarterly FDIC Call Report, FRY9, FRY6; Understand and implement new policies and procedures for updated accounting guidance or regulations; Assess compliance with Bank policies such as; liquidity, interest rate risk, and capital; Provides assistance with internal and external financial statement audits; Ability to effectively communicate; such as the ability to pass clear instructions and understand feedback from staff, to contribute to company strategy, and present on the company’s financial status; Ability to work collaboratively with the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Analyst, Finance Clerk and other internal colleagues; Perform other duties as needed within the department. Necessary Skills, Training, and Dispositions: 5+ years of financial experience in banking required; Certified Public Accountant highly preferred; Strong knowledge of call reports and OCC/FED/FRB Regulations; Excellent organizational and time management/prioritization skills; College degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong computer skills; Candidates should have confidence using Microsoft Excel/Word and have the aptitude to quickly learn new programs; Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines is essential. Salary range for this position, based on qualifications and background is: $80,000 - $120,000 per year.
