Airport Project Manager (Independence Excavating)

Airport Paving Project Manager Independence Excavating is looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to join our growing Paving division. The manager will oversee all aspects of assigned airfield projects, including budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts, purchase orders, and owner interaction. Our team is dedicated to safety, quality, and community impact. Typical Day Read and interpret drawings and specifications. Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. Review estimated production with Superintendents to finalize the bid. Prepare and maintain detailed schedules (P6). Track and maintain totals, tonnages, and payments for recycled materials on job sites. Assemble job cost codes and update regularly. Submit pay estimates to owners. Monitor production, resource utilization, and overall job cost versus estimate to maintain profit margin. Coordinate punch list, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and final estimate/retainer billing during project close-out. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (additional construction certifications or training preferred). 5–10 years of experience as a Project Manager. Multi‑faceted construction knowledge (earthwork, utilities, concrete paving) preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage people, schedules, budgets, and quality at multiple construction sites. Competent in complete and accurate project take‑offs and estimates. Forward‑thinking, continual improvement mindset, and willingness to learn. Working knowledge of FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, and various state DOT specifications. Excellent verbal communication with employees, vendors, owners, and general contractors. Leadership and commitment to a positive, safe, and quality work environment. Strong organizational skills to handle a variety of tasks. Benefits Weekly competitive pay.
