Direct Support Professional

About the Role:
AmeriCare Health and Rehab Inc is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in Montgomery, AL. In this rewarding role, you'll make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities or special needs by providing personalized care and support every day. Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and daily living assistance to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
Support clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks
Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
Assist clients with community integration, social activities, and recreational outings
Administer medications and monitor health conditions per established protocols
Communicate effectively with supervisors, family members, and healthcare professionals
Respond appropriately to behavioral challenges using approved techniques and de-escalation strategies
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and person-centered approach
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
