Staff Accountant

Position Overview


We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our public accounting team. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys solving problems, analyzing financial information, and applying critical thinking skills to tax and accounting engagements.


While technical knowledge is important, we are looking for someone who goes beyond data entry and compliance work. The ideal candidate can identify inconsistencies, ask thoughtful questions, recognize potential issues, and work through complex situations with sound professional judgment.


This role offers exposure to a variety of tax, accounting, and client advisory projects while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities


Tax Services

• Prepare individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
• Analyze financial records and supporting documentation.
• Identify potential tax issues, inconsistencies, and planning opportunities.
• Research tax matters and assist with issue resolution.
• Communicate with clients regarding information requests and follow-up items.

Accounting Services

• Prepare and review bookkeeping records.
• Perform account reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with payroll tax and sales tax compliance.
• Support client accounting and advisory engagements.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with managers and senior staff on client engagements.
• Participate in internal training and professional development.
• Assist with process improvements and special projects.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred

• Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
• Experience with payroll and sales tax compliance.
• CPA candidate or interest in pursuing CPA certification.
