KIRCO is seeking an experienced Construction / Corporate Accountant to join our Accounting team. This is a unique opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety and wants exposure to both corporate accounting and construction/project accounting.

In this role, you will work closely with our Corporate and Construction Controllers, Project Managers, and operational teams to support the financial performance of our corporate entities and construction/development projects. You’ll take ownership of key accounting processes, provide meaningful financial insight, and help strengthen the systems and processes that support our business.

The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, experience in construction, real estate, or another project-based environment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. We’re looking for someone who can dig into the details while also understanding the bigger financial picture.

What You'll Do

Construction & Project Accounting

• Prepare and manage construction draws for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract and lender requirements
• Review prime contracts to understand billing requirements and ensure accurate and timely invoicing
• Manage job cost accounting, including commitments, cost allocations, and variance analysis
• Partner with Project Managers to monitor project budgets, general conditions, allowances, and potential cost overruns
• Maintain accurate subcontract values and ensure change orders are processed appropriately
• Manage subcontractor compliance documentation, including lien waivers and sworn statements
• Support project closeout and ensure project financials are complete and accurate

Corporate Accounting

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities across corporate entities
• Manage cash applications, deposits, and account reconciliations
• Manage key revenue streams, including property management fees and intercompany allocations
• Participate in month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Assist with corporate budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Coordinate annual 1099 reporting and maintain accurate vendor records

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Provide financial reporting and insights to Accounting leadership to support business decisions
• Analyze project and corporate financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Assist with audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to requests
• Help ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and established internal controls

Systems & Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting, and overall efficiency
• Help maximize the use of accounting and construction systems such as Yardi, Procore, PayScan, and GCPay
• Support accounting system implementations, upgrades, and process standardization
• Help strengthen internal controls and consistency across accounting processes

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered
• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience , preferably within construction, commercial real estate, development, or another project-based environment
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, construction draws, project financials, and contract billing
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
• Experience working with multiple entities or business units
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting
• Experience with Yardi and/or Procore strongly preferred
• Understanding of construction accounting concepts, including WIP, job costing, and contract billing
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively partner with Project Managers, Accounting leadership, and other teams
