Position Overview Join Bronson LakeView Hospital's Emergency Department and provide exceptional care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent medical conditions. As an ED RN, you'll work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment where strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and compassionate care make a difference every day. Key Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process. Perform rapid assessments and prioritize care based on patient acuity. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards. Monitor patient condition and respond quickly to changes. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care. Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions. Delegate appropriate tasks within scope of practice. Accurately document patient care, interventions, and outcomes. Additional Responsibilities Interprets procedure card, assesses case cart for supplies prior to the scheduled procedure time; identifies missing equipment and/or supplies and makes arrangements to acquire those supplies. Applies knowledge of operative procedure and physician preferences by anticipating physicians' needs. Observes for changes in patient’s condition that indicate a problem has emerged. Evaluates and updates case information, i.e., preference cards, broken or misplaced equipment, back‑ordered supplies, and recommended changes in procedure. Remains aware of the proper use of equipment and instruments, and discourages improper use and handling by co‑workers & physicians. Acts as specialist and resource for circulators who may be unfamiliar with positioning devices, specialty equipment, or implants needed. Is responsible for after‑hour call on a rotational basis. Performs scrub duties in multiple services such as neuro and ortho STII, and spinal fusions in both services. For HDU Department Only: Performs additional on call requirements beyond regular scheduled hours. For Bronson Lakeview Hospital and Bronson South Haven Hospital: Responsible for completing the Workday CBL – “Swing beds” and understands documentation differences for swing bed patients. Qualifications Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred and must be obtained within eight (8) years of hire. Licensure: Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon completion of orientation. Additional certifications—including critical care and advanced life support—may be required based on department needs. Emergency Department: SALT triage, ESI triage, and NIH Stroke Scale to be completed within 90 days of hire date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within 6 months for Special Care Unit. Electronic fetal monitoring certification required within 6 months for Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment to set appropriate plan of action. Must be able to communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically. Commitment to patient safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate care. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and patient handling. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work in an environment requiring sustained concentration and attention to detail. Use of personal computer with sustained attention to detail. Benefits and Incentives Up to $20,000 sign‑on bonus.
